Been away too long, and well past the end of 2009. However, I'm starting to post what I can until we've reached our promised "365".

Golden Age hero Manuel Gaspar Ruiz Solinas was discovered by Mexican revolutionary leader Emiliano Zapata while Manuel was shooting doves from 200 yards for dinner with a Colt Naval revolver at the age of 13 in 1918. An orphan, Manuel joined Zapata’s band but upon Zapata’s death Manuel headed north to Texas and made a name for himself in shooting demonstrations at rodeos and sideshows doing everything from speed and target shooting to firing a bullet from 100 paces close enough to a match held in the teeth of an assistant to light it without striking it. One evening after a show he foiled the robbery of the cashbox of the traveling rodeo he was with. Having finally found a thrill that matched the one of his youth with Zapata, Manny decided to become a masked hero and became a stuntman in California as his day job and a US citizen. A crack shot with uncanny distance vision and speed with a handgun, Manny also developed early non-lethal ‘stun rounds’ a precursor to the modern rubber bullet that he could hit a target in a nerve cluster in the shoulder of leg with the precision and effect of a master of martial arts. He was usually armed with a variety of four to six pistols and a bandolier or two of specialty ammo as well as regular ammo. Retiring from the hero game in the early fifties, Manny ran for Senate in his adopted home state of Texas . He won and was one of the most vocal opponents to Joseph McCarthy's red baiting of the military and the superhero community during the Cold War, but was one of the lead legislators of his era in making super villains and heroes accountable for the havoc they wreck and helped lay the ground work for what would be the governments Super Powered Investigations units in the 1970's before his death due to a stroke. Pieces of his equipment and his story are part of the permanent collection of the university in Austin, Texas.

We had a few hacker attacks against the site last year, setting us back not to mention I kinda fell off the drawing wagon while the site was down. Fear not, I have images to post soon. Turns out 2010 has been a busy damn year for me! Which is good! I have a few projects in the works that are absorbing my time, not letting me catch Project 365 where it should be.
Chester McCormick was a Classics professor and archeologist during the late 1920's when he found a Roman breastplate and cloak seeming to have been untouched by the march of time near a sight believed to be the hill of Christ's crucifixion. During the night McCormick was contacted in what he thought was a dream by the armor and the cloak themselves. They related to him the story of a Roman soldier who had taken part in the torture of Christ, but during the torture changed his mind and refused to drive in the nails and was himself killed. Donning them upon returning to the states, McCormick found they gave him abilities to pass through solid objects, become invisible, and move objects at a distance without touching them. All the abilities of a ghost. Wearing the breastplate under a regular three button suit, using the cloak as it would have been worn centuries ago, and a simple domino mask, McCormick then became Red Wraith, one of the first masks along with Mr. Wonder and Gauntlet, fighting crime and the mob in his home town of Chicago. Death finally came at the hands of the Syndicate of Sin in 1947, killing him after finding out his secret identity and gunning down McCormick on his way home. The fate of the Wraith's breastplate and cloak are unknown though they apparently did not fall into the hands of the Syndicate of Sin. Some have speculated that McCormick may have placed the items from time to time as actual parts of Roman history diorama displays at the Museum of Natural History where he was the Head Curator of Antiquities, thereby hiding them in plain sight, and hence have been innocuously boxed up and stored by those unaware of what they had.
